HOW DO I SEARCH FOR A CLIMB?

  • Click “CLIMBS” in the top bar menu, and a list of British regions appears.

  • Click on a region e.g “PEAK DISTRICT”, and a page will open detailing the climbs we’ve filmed there, complete with their trailers.

  • For a given climb, click “DETAILS” and a page will open with more info on the climb, together with its “Pack” details.

  • Each climb’s “Pack” contains an Online Film of that climb; Rack used in the filmed ascent; Directions; and Offline Rucksack.

  • To buy a pack, click the “BUY PACK” button beneath a climb’s tailer, or on its Details page.

ALTERNATIVELY:

  • Go to the “ABOUT” page.

  • Scroll to the buttons at the bottom of the page, labelled “SNOWDONIA CLIMBS”, “PEAK DISTRICT CLIMBS”, “WYE VALLEY CLIMBS”, “PEMBROKE CLIMBS”, and “WEST COUNTRY CLIMBS”.

  • Click on one of these, and a page will open detailing the climbs we’ve filmed there, complete with their trailers.

  • For a given climb, click “DETAILS” and a page will open with more info on the climb, together with its “Pack” details.

  • To buy a pack, click the “BUY PACK” button beneath a climb’s tailer, or on its Details page.

WHAT DOES EACH “CLIMB PACK” CONTAIN?

Each climb’s “Pack” contains:

  • An Online Film of that climb.

  • Rack used in the filmed ascent.

  • Directions to the filmed climb.

  • Offline Rucksack.

HOW DO I BUY A “CLIMB PACK”?

EITHER: In the list of a region’s climbs (e.g Snowdonia), click the “BUY PACK” button beneath a given climb’s film trailer.

OR: Scroll to the bottom of a given climb’s “DETAILS” page, and click “BUY PACK”.

  • A “Welcome Page“ will open. Tick the box to confirm you’ve read and agree to the Climber’s Path Important Safety Notice / Terms and Conditions. Click “Next”.

  • A FORM will appear: Fill it in to set up a Climber’s Path Account (name, email, and password).

  • Tick if you want to receive Climber’s Path emails re our film releases, etc (OPTIONAL).

  • Tick the form’s box to confirm you’ve read and agree to the Important Safety Notice / Terms and Conditions (REQUIRED).

  • * IF YOU’VE ALREADY GOT AN ACCOUNT, DO NOT FILL IN THE FORM AGAIN. INSTEAD, SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FORM AND CLICK “ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT - LOG IN”.*

  • If you’re already logged in, clicking “Next” will take you straight to the pay cart.

  • Complete the purchase in the pay cart.

  • A new page containing your climb’s “Pack” will open.

  • The Online Film, Directions, Rack Used in the filmed ascent, and Offline Rucksack are now all accessible via the PURPLE BUTTONS that appear on the page.

HOW DO I ACCESS MY PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED “CLIMB PACKS”?

  • To access your previously bought Packs, click “Log In” in the top bar menu.

  • Log in - and a drop down menu will appear, listing the Climb Packs you’ve previously bought.

  • Click on a given Climb Pack to open it.

  • Once logged in, the “Log In” button will change to a “My Films” button for the remainder of your site visit. Click it to trigger a drop down menu listing your purchased Climb Packs; then click on a given Climb Pack to open it.

  • To “log out”, click “My Climbs”, then “Your Account”, then scroll down to “Log Out”.

  • If a desired item in the menu appears too low in the screen to click (e.g Pack name; or Log Out button) drag the menu box higher up the screen.

WHAT DO THE FILMS CONTAIN?

  • Each film follows senior mountaineering instructor Henry Castle, as he climbs a specific route. For example, Snowdonia’s “Seamstress” (VS 4c).

  • As he climbs, he explains in great detail the techniques he’s using; the line he’s taking; the safety gear he’s placing - and why he’s placing it.

  • Graphics appear throughout each film to label the gear as it’s placed, and to approximately map the route he’s taking.

  • The films are streamed online via the website. They range from 30 minutes, to 1 hour 45 minutes. Most of the film’s include their trailer’s at the start, prior to the film proper.

  • If on rare occasions a film freezes whilst streaming, close the film, click “My Films”, reload the film Pack, and play the film (selecting the point in the time line where it froze). The film should now play without the freeze.

WHAT DO THE “OFFLINE RUCKSACKS” CONTAIN?

Included in each climb’s Pack is an “Offline Rucksack” - This can be downloaded to most phones whilst online, for later use offline.

Each Rucksack contains:

  • Extensive Topos from the filmed climb.

  • Start Point Details from the filmed climb.

  • Location details.

HOW DO I OPEN & USE THE RUCKSACK?

You must initially be online to open the Rucksack:

  • Open your purchased CLIMB PACK.

  • Scroll down and click the “OPEN RUCKSACK” button.

    • Our Rucksacks are hosted on Dropbox.

    • The Rucksack will either open immediately, OR you may be given the option to access the Rucksack via the Dropbox website, or their app. Choose whichever you prefer.

  • If you choose “continue to website “, the Rucksack will open with a “Get the Dropbox app” banner popping up too. Simply cancel the banner, and the Rucksack will be in full view.

  • To download the Rucksack file to your device - click the DOWNLOAD icon.

  • The Rucksack file will now download to the “FILES” section of your device.

  • From here, you can open the downloaded file at anytime, on or offline, for viewing.

    • If you choose to use the Dropbox app, download it to you phone, and create an account.

    • In future, when you click “Open Rucksack”, it will open in the Dropbox app, where it can be saved.

HOW DO I GET DIRECTIONS TO THE LOCATION OF A FILMED CLIMB?

We supply directions to all the climbs we’ve filmed.

  • Click the “DIRECTIONS” button on a climb’s “DETAILS” or “PACK” page.

  • A map will open, with the filmed climb pinpointed.

  • To get directions to the location, click the “Navigate” button on the top left of the screen, and select “Google Maps”.

  • Directions to the location will appear.

HOW DO I FIND THE START-POINT OF A FILMED CLIMB?

Finding the start-point of a climbing route can often be a challenge.

So, for each filmed climb we supply a still image of our start point, as part of that climb’s Offline Rucksack.

We also provide the approximate ///what3words address for our start point.

N.B We only provide approximate addresses as satellite reception and hence address accuracy varies between our climb locations.

WHAT IS “///what3words”?

The “///what3words” website and app gives every 3 metre square on the planet an easy-to-remember three word address.

For example, the base of Haytor Lowman on Dartmoor lies at “riverbed.summer.straw”.

HOW DO I NAVIGATE TO A “///what3words” ADDRESS?

To navigate to a “///what3words address”, simply enter the address into the what3words app, tap “Navigate” and select “Google Maps” to open the location in Google Maps.
